CWU Symphony Orchestra to perform tonight | Yakima Herald-Republic.

The Central Washington University Symphony Orchestra will be performing tonight at the Spirit of the West Cowboy Gathering in Ellensburg. Several vocalists from CWU will join the orchestra.

The performance will feature music from various periods in America’s history.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Jerilyn S. McIntyre Music Building Concert Hall. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $10 for students. They can be purchased through at ellensburgcowboygathering.com.

The program will include “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” Shenandoah,” “When Johnny Comes Marching Home,” and music from the soundtracks of movie westerns such as “Gunfight at the OK Corral” and “The Alamo.” The featured piece will be Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait.” It is a musical tone poem that uses Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
